Airports have become central to businesses and are evolving into modern mini cities with mixed land use developments through increased urbanization and global connectivity. The Aerotropolis consists of an airport city and outlying corridors around transportation connections, clusters of aviation-linked businesses, and associated residential development that feed off each other and their accessibility to the airport. It is quite likely that such districts may see increased interest in a post-Coronavirus world.
What prerequisites have to be considered, in order to develop an ‘Aerotropolis’ as the new downtowns of the 21st century? Factors such as location, size, urban planning, land economics, and government regulations will play a decisive role. So how can such opportunities be structured between governments, airport operators, real estate developers, and investors? How do we look at specialized asset classes such as hotels which have increased flexi workspaces? Can estate in an airport city be seen as a specialized asset class in itself?
This eMeeting will focus on understanding the real estate investment opportunities in an aerotropolis. Meet our special guest, Dr. John D Kasarda, the leading developer of the Aerotropolis concept defining the roles of aviation and airports in shaping the future of business location, urban competitiveness, and economic growth.
- Mixed-use Airport Communities - The new urban hub?
- On-airport City Investment - What are short and long term risks & opportunities?
- Who’s got What it Takes? Is accessibility all that matters?
- Opportunistic Investors - COVID-19 slowdown offering more opportunities?
- How to Form JVs and Partnerships for airport land development?
- Is real estate in aerotropolis a specialized asset class in itself?
- Do these real estate assets provide risk diversification to traditional core asset investors?

to say about our eMeetings
"The eConference that GRI had organized was very well organized given the circumstances and obviously not the same as a fisical conference, the personal touch is missing, but under the circumstances that we are dealing with, I think it was very well organized.
The form was very informative, it’s a topic that is particularly of interest to me and personally, which is why I thought it proper to spend time and it was worth it. I thought all of the delegates made some very important and pertinent points. The main gentleman, Mr. Mahesh Ramanujam, was obviously an expert and someone who knows the subject, and it was worthwhile listening to him, so, thank you. And, the format itself, I think the medium it was, let put it this way: it was efficient and met the objectives."
