Emily Lavery

Ms. Emily Lavery currently serves as Senator Tim Scott’s Legislative Assistant for his work on the Senate Finance Committee and is the lead policy advisor for Opportunity Zones. In this role, Emily advises Senator Scott on broad federal tax and trade policy in addition to overseeing implementation of the Opportunity Zones tax incentive, which Senator Scott championed and passed into law in 2017. This is her sixth year serving on Senator Scott’s legislative team. Emily earned her J.D. at the Washington College of Law, where she was a Jurist Merit Scholar, and her B.A. at the University of South Carolina, where she was a Simms Merit Scholar.
