Tom Shapiro
Biography
Thomas M. Shapiro is the President, Founder, and Chief Investment Officer of GTIS Partners, a global real estate investment firm based in New York. He co-founded GTIS in 2005 and is responsible for overseeing all investment activities and strategy, also serving as Chairman of the General Partner's Investment Committee. Shapiro has been instrumental in identifying macro trends, including early investments in Brazil (2005), U.S. residential real estate (2009), single-family rental as an asset class (2010), and build-to-rent (2019). Before establishing GTIS Partners, he was a Senior Managing Director at Tishman Speyer, where he was a member of the firm's Investment and Management Committees. He previously led Tishman Speyer's global equity capital markets and dispositions groups.
