Biography
Joel Sanchez is Tourism, Retail, and Property Lead for the Upstream and Advisory team at IFC (International Finance Corporation) for Latin America and the Caribbean. In this role, he helps drive IFC’s investments in these sectors, promoting decarbonization strategies and providing pre-investment advisory support to advance sustainable real estate portfolios. Previously, Joel led IFC’s Green Building program for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, where he spearheaded the adoption of EDGE certification, supported the development of green mortgages, and advanced sustainability-linked financing in the region. Under his leadership, Mexico became the second-largest market for EDGE certification globally. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Infonavit and J-PAL, and collaborated with organizations such as UNICEF and the World Food Programme.
