Simon Carter
Biography
Simon Carter serves as the CEO of British Land, a role he assumed in November 2020. An economics graduate from Cambridge, he is also a qualified chartered accountant. Carter has extensive experience in real estate and finance, including an earlier decade-long tenure at British Land in various financial and strategic leadership positions, and as a member of the Executive Committee. Prior to his CEO appointment, he was British Land's CFO from May 2018. His career also includes serving as CFO of Logicor and Finance Director at Quintain Estates & Development plc. At British Land, Carter has spearheaded strategic initiatives, including a focus on out-of-town retail parks and developing high-end, adaptable office spaces. He also champions placemaking, sustainability, and community engagement through education and employment programs. In July 2025, Carter was appointed President of the British Property Federation.
