Jürgen Michels

Jürgen Michels serves as Managing Director, Chief Economist, and Head of Research at BayernLB, a role he has held since October 2013. Prior to joining BayernLB, he was the Chief Euro-area Economist at Citigroup in London from 2008 to 2013, having previously worked as an economist in their Investment & Research Analysis department since 2002. Michels also gained experience as an economist at Sal. Oppenheim from 1997 to 2002. He earned a doctoral degree in Economics from Goethe University Frankfurt, specializing in central bank strategies, and a Diplom degree in Economics from the University of Bonn.
