David Schaefer
Biography
David H. Schaefer is the CEO Asia Pacific at AEW Capital Management in Hong Kong, overseeing the firm's investment and business activities in the region. He is part of AEW's Asia Investment Committee and Global Management Committee. Schaefer joined AEW in 2012 as Managing Director and Head of AEW Asia, contributing over 23 years of real estate investment experience. Under his guidance, the Asia Pacific team expanded significantly, and he managed the closing of major funds like the AEW Value Investors Asia IV with $1.54 billion in commitments. Before AEW, Schaefer was the Global Head of Institutional Capital and Head of Asia Pacific at DTZ Investment and Asset Management. He also led Asia Pacific efforts at Citi Property Investors, launching the $1.3 billion CPI Capital Partners Asia Pacific Fund. Earlier, he was Executive Director, Head of Property-Asia at Macquarie Bank. Schaefer holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University.
