Biography

Marcelo Motta serves as the Latin America Cyber Security and Privacy Protection Director at Huawei do Brasil, a role in which he emphasizes that cybersecurity extends beyond equipment to include network architecture and operation. With a tenure at Huawei since early 2002, Motta is also recognized as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) and Data Protection Officer (DPO) for Huawei Brasil/Latin America. He advocates for global collaboration on cybersecurity, highlighting the expanding attack surfaces in an increasingly connected world. Motta has addressed the importance of cybersecurity for Internet Service Providers in Brazil and the necessity of investing in skilled personnel and organized defense against the significant volume of cyberattacks. He consistently points out the enhanced security of 5G networks compared to their applications and champions data privacy beyond traditional cybersecurity measures.
