Federico Echavarria
Biography
Federico Echavarria serves as the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager for Colombia at AES Colombia, a position he has held since 2009. With over 15 years of leadership experience at AES in both Colombia and the United States, he has been a driving force in the company's commitment to renewable energy. Under his guidance, AES Colombia became the country's first 100% renewable company, diversifying its energy matrix with hydroelectric, solar, and significant wind projects like the Jemeiwaa Ka' cluster. Before joining AES, he held roles as General Manager of Meriléctrica and Vice President of Investment Banking at Corfinsura. Mr. Echavarria holds an Industrial Engineering degree from Universidad de Los Andes and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is instrumental in accelerating Colombia's energy transition, focusing on sustainability and reliability.
