Biography
Ed Aldag launched Medical Properties Trust in 2003 as the world’s only real estate investment trust focusing exclusively on hospitals. Today, company assets have grown to nearly $25 billion and the number of hospital beds owned is more than 46,000. A business and finance graduate of the University of Alabama, Ed serves on the board of Children’s of Alabama, one of the nation’s leading hospitals for children, and as a director and member of the investment committee of the Alabama Children’s Hospital Foundation. He also serves as a board member of Mitchell's Place, the Birmingham Education Foundation and the American Sports Medicine Institute, and as an executive committee member of the Birmingham Business Alliance.
