Biography

Dr. Laura Sima is the U.S. Department of Energy’s Attaché to Mexico where she tracks U.S. energy policy interests, provides specialized support to U.S. energy businesses in Mexico, and promotes cooperation and dialogue between the U.S. and Mexico in the fields of energy security, fossil fuels, nuclear power, nuclear security and nonproliferation, and science and innovation. Prior to starting this role in 2022, Dr. Sima was DOE’s Arabian Gulf Peninsula desk officer at a time of global oil market disruption. In that role, from 2020, she helped inform dialogues with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen and Kuwait.
