Sergiu Oprescu
Biography
Sergiu Oprescu serves as the Executive President of Alpha Bank Romania and General Manager of the International Network of Alpha Bank Group, overseeing operations across Cyprus, Romania, Albania, UK, and Luxembourg. With over 30 years of experience in banking and capital markets, he joined Alpha Bank Romania in 1994, rising to Executive President in 2007. Oprescu notably chaired the Bucharest Stock Exchange from 2000 to 2006 and has served as President of the Board of Directors of the Romanian Association of Banks. He was appointed Deputy Chairman of the European Mortgage Federation for 2023-2024. His leadership at Alpha Bank Romania has driven key innovations, including launching the first mortgage loan in the local market. He holds an MEng and has pursued executive studies at Harvard, Stanford, and London Business School.
