David Gillan
Biography
David C. Gillan is the Managing Director, Global Real Estate Investments & Commercial Lending at the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System (NYSTRS). He is responsible for overseeing NYSTRS’ extensive global real estate investment portfolio, which has been reported to be as large as $21.8 billion, encompassing direct property investments, global real estate funds, securities, and commercial lending. With a career spanning back to 2001 at NYSTRS, Mr. Gillan possesses deep expertise in the real estate and investment sectors. His prior experience includes leadership roles at the Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board and the New York State Common Retirement Fund. A Certified Public Accountant, he earned his BBA in Accounting from Siena College. He also contributes his expertise through board positions at Lineage Logistics, EDENS, Donahue Schriber, and the Pension Real Estate Association.
