Carlton Chin

Carlton Chin serves as the Chief Investment Officer for the Municipal Fire and Police Retirement System of Iowa (MFPRSI), a role he was promoted to in July 2020 after joining as Deputy CIO in November 2020. He brings a robust background to his position, encompassing experience as a pension actuary, investment consultant, portfolio manager, and chief investment officer, including tenure at Goldman Sachs. Mr. Chin holds both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At MFPRSI, which manages over $3.4 billion in assets, he focuses on diversification and utilizes absolute return strategies as a source of liquidity, particularly in managing downside risk with his quantitative and sports analytics background. He is also focused on private equity investments, specifically small buyout and venture capital in the U.S., and exploring opportunities in European private equity.
