Carlos Barona
Biography
Carlos Barona is a Partner and co-founder at Axia IB SAS, also known as Oaklins Axia in Colombia. He possesses over 25 years of investment banking experience across Latin America and Europe. Barona has led and executed financing and M&A transactions with an aggregate value exceeding US$150 billion, specializing in the consumer & retail, financial services, and energy sectors. Prior to co-founding Axia IB, he spent 12 years as a director in the credit markets group at Citigroup London, focusing on debt origination and structuring for European clients, including acquisition financings and restructurings. He holds an MBA (summa cum laude) from Université Catholique de Louvain and a Bachelor of Science from Babson College.
